Employee Benefits - Why Choose Us?

We work diligently to remain in contact with our clients and listen to their needs. Our goal is not to be the largest consulting firm in our area, but to be the best. We manage our growth cautiously so as not to outpace our ability to remain accessible to our current clientele. We also understand that each client has its own unique set of characteristics, needs and goals. We respect those differences. We seek long-term relationships, based upon trust and respect.

About Jeff Fox, Your Employee Benefits Consultant

Jeff has over 30 years’ experience in the employee benefits industry. His expertise is in the self-funded marketplace, having been associated with four quality Third Party Administrators during his career.

Jeff started with Gardner & White in the early 1980’s and trained under some of the original industry pioneers learning the basics of employee benefits. In the mid-80s he joined Key Benefit Administrators and learned more about the applications of self-funding. As he became more experienced, he also began distinguishing himself as someone who listens carefully to the needs of his clients.

In early 1990, Jeff joined Nyhart as a benefit consultant and flourished in this service-intensive environment. Nyhart is responsible for developing the finer points of providing excellent customer service and the concept of consulting over selling – two skills that have become earmarks of Jeff’s service.

In the early 2000’s Jeff joined H.J. Spier Co., Inc. as the leader of their benefits consulting department. Spier is different than other insurance agency organizations in that it fosters an entrepreneurial spirit in servicing clients. In this environment Jeff is able to build his own book of business and structure his time with clients. He continues to build off his solid foundation in employee benefits by focusing on his clients’ needs and emphasizing a true partnership spirit.

One of Jeff’s strengths is his ability and desire to become as close to his clients as possible. He maintains a high level of visibility and remains personally involved with each of his clients – never assigning them to a customer service representative. He knows from experience that ultimately, his clients hire him – thus, he is the one with whom they interact.

About Jenni Engledow

Jenni is the all-important person behind the curtain for Jeff Fox. Her support helps him provide the high level of service his clients deserve. Jenni has 20 years of experience in the Life and Health insurance industry where her main focus has been in the self-funded industry.

Jenni started her insurance career in 1988 in the actuarial department of Indianapolis Life Insurance Company and then moved to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1990 where she learned the basics of group health underwriting (both fully-insured and self-funded). In 1992 she moved to a position as stop loss underwriter at L.J. Underwriting Associates. After moving to Underwriters & Management Services in 1999 (now Symetra Financial), she continued as an underwriter and in 2001 was promoted to Regional Group Manager.

In 2007 Jeff invited Jenni to join him at H.J. Spier. Today, she continues to use her experience and excellent customer service skills to support Jeff.

Our business plan is to maintain our clients long-term...period.

How is this accomplished?

  1. Treat clients as we would want to be treated. Sell nothing...instead, listen, digest, recommend and implement.
  2. Be as visible as possible to clients and their employees. Jeff’s contact information is readily available so that employees or their spouses can contact him with questions.
  3. Educate. Impart our experience and knowledge of the business to our clients, so they can make educated decisions.
  4. Ensure our clients understand their plans and their costs and how long-term planning and thinking is a better strategy than short-term fixes.
  5. Encourage long-term partnerships between clients and their carriers. Discourage price hopping – a strategy that many utilize but one that fails long-term.
